Hi folks! April here coming to you live from Cape Breton!
Last spring a few of us from work got together and went kayaking in North River just a short drive from Baddeck. We went with North River Kayak Tours and had a blast. Now, I should tell you… I can’t swim and used to hate water. I went kayaking after some convincing by my co-workers and my boyfriend – and I LOVED it. Kayaking was easier than I thought it would be, and the kayak itself was much more stable in the water then I expected it to be.
We took kayaks that hold two people each which is apparently the best way to go for people who haven’t kayaked before. Angelo with North River Kayak Tours took us through some lessons on land, and then guided us down the river and out into St. Ann’s Bay. On the way back we stopped for lunch on the side of the river bank and had a great time enjoying homemade bread, molasses and tea. Once we got back into the kayaks for the final stretch I was feeling pretty good about it and I got in the front seat of our kayak and started going faster and faster! So much fun!!!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun on your first kayak trip.
You are right, most people are scared about the wobbling of a kayak but they learn really quick to handle it and to get used to it.
I hope you will get a chance to go for another kayak trip someday and who knows, maybe someday you might even buy your own kayak.
